As a student of the famous Belgian guitar master Wim Brioen, Jan was the only Flemish who was nominated for the Concours Gemeentekrediet ``Pro Civitate''.

Besides his activities as classic chamber musician, he developed a great intrest in Argentinian tango music and his spontaneous interpretations integrate very elegantly in the sound of the Tango 02 ensemble in which he participates almost since its beginning in 1995.
