Ignaas Vermeiren starts his music studies as cello player at the Antwerp Conservatory under the guidance of André Messens where he is in company of series of extraordinary cellists:

Edmond Carlier, Rudy Froyen, Hans Mannes, Roel Dieltiens as well as Peter Hens (Frivole Framboos). As an orchestra musician, he was formed by Fernand Terby.
Even before his studies in Antwerp, Ignaas played the cello in a variety of chamber- and symphonic orchestras. In this period he also started to play the double bass in the 'Freedom' Big Band (Bornem, B) and the 'Nut en Vermaak' ensemble directed by Walter Boeykens.

Ignaas Vermeiren further participates in various theater productions such as the 'Etherisch Strijkersensemble Parisiana', a Flemish theater group with which he visited important anglo-saxon and scandinavian theater festivals.

Besides this work, he was also strongly attracted by saloon music, a genre that gives him a tremendous satisfaction as cello player. This music also brings him in contact with the tango music. This latter genre brings him ultimately to the Tango 02 group.

He also plays the cello in the 'Vida Loca' cuartet that specializes in South-American music in general and in the 'Teagarden' orchestra. He is solo-cello player in the chamber orchestra Ostinato and is first double-bass player in the symphonic orchestra 'Waeslandia'.
